Industrial Wet Vac

Situation

A major steel manufacturer in Hamilton, ON contracted HydroVac Industrial and Marine Services to supply an industrial wet vacuum truck and crew for 12 hours per day, 7 days per week to service their facility’s coke oven gas condensate drip lines. Special training, timing, and continuity in crews are critical for a seamless operation of this “live” system. The steel manufacturer also contracted a site-based industrial wet vacuum truck, complete with crew, for 8 hours per day, 5 days per week to address routine as well as emergency environmental issues.

Cost Saving Services

In order to secure the daily window required for both these operations, a time/activity study was initiated by HydroVac in cooperation with the customer, leading to a decision to cross-train personnel, streamline activities, maintain an on-site daily presence, reduce headcount, and reduce equipment hours while maintaining access to primary equipment.

The Results

To date HydroVac Industrial and Marine Services has been able to achieve the objectives of the original mandate while saving the customer a projected $73,600 in yearly maintenance expenses.
